Faith-Encouragement-Perseverance

Embrace the Valley, Reach New Heights!

The Power of Perseverance

In my book, Winning Words–Speaking Life to Influence Others, there is an entire chapter on Perseverance.  At the end of the chapter titled “Success”, there are over fifty sayings from leaders and coaches. One of those sayings, from Bob Lucey, long time head football coach at Curtis High School, is “Nothing grows on the mountain tops. Everything grows in the valleys.”

Getting from the valleys of life to the mountain top moments only happen because we persevere in the valley moments of life. Sometimes those valley moments become hours, days, weeks, or months.  Perseverance means we overcome the adversity that we are facing in the valley.  As we overcome, our will to succeed keeps pushing us through the difficulty.

Action Steps:

1) Describe the most adverse time in your life where you needed to persevere.

2) What level of perseverance did you need to overcome the adversity?

3) Remind yourself and others that nothing worthwhile in life is easy.

God’s very best,
