Encouragement—Acknowledge Others
Encouragement is not something that we keep. We don’t store up encouragement. We don’t keep encouragement in a box for later.
No, in fact, encouragement is meant to be given away. It is like a gift–not to be kept, but to be given. In this regard, in order to give away the gift of encouragement, we need to acknowledge other people. We must know who in our circle of influence needs encouragement, deserves encouragement, or would be pleasantly surprised to receive encouragement.
Imagine the smile on the face of a child, a close friend, a work colleague, or a neighbor when you speak words of encouragement to them. Imagine the emotional lift that your words of encouragement can give to another person.
Be an encourager of others! It really is your choice to do so. Giving encouragement away costs nothing but gains much! Be a giver of sweet words!
Action Step:
- Tomorrow, make a mental note to speak encouragement to three people.
- Send a handwritten note in the next five days to three people.
- Pick up your phone and call four people to lift their spirits.
- You have just become a champion for encouraging others!
